KoeDraft lives everywhere you type — a keyboard, a floating mic, a menu-bar app. Each surface needs one clear permission. Here is the complete list; there is nothing else.
A small always-on-top bar you can drag anywhere on screen. Tap, speak, and the text drops into whatever app is focused.
A real keyboard with a mic key. Dictate and insert directly into any app — chat, email, notes, browsers — without switching.
On Mac (and Windows soon), a menu-bar mic with a global hotkey types straight into the app you're using.
The one permission dictation can't exist without. Audio is processed in the moment and discarded — never stored, never uploaded on Free or Comprehensive.
Asked on first recordingOn iPhone and Mac, Apple requires a separate consent to use the on-device speech engine. It's the same private, offline engine Siri dictation uses.
iOS & macOS · asked onceAndroid's standard "add a keyboard" setting turns on the KoeDraft keyboard so you can dictate into any app. It's a proper system keyboard — we never use accessibility-service tricks to fake it.
Android · Settings → KeyboardsPowers the floating mic bar on Android — the movable bubble that sits on top of whatever you're doing. Deny it and everything else still works; you just won't have the floating bar.
Android · optionalOptional. Only used for download progress on the Comprehensive pack and recording-state reminders — never marketing spam.
Optional · off is fineNo contacts. No location. No camera or photos. No call logs or SMS. No accessibility service. No background recording — the mic runs only while you're actively dictating, with the state always visible.
Our permanent ruleEvery permission we request maps to one feature you can see. Nothing runs in the background, nothing reads other apps, and secure fields like passwords are never touched. If a future feature ever needs more, it will be opt-in and explained exactly like this page.
